Formula TR Rounds 17 & 18 - Harris Wins!
November 14, 2005, Oakland, CA – Auston Harris wins after only 16 races in an open wheel car and only three years of driving experience.

Auston qualified fourth for Round 17 of the Formula TR Series for Formula Renault 1600’s.  At the start he charged forward and was in second place almost immediately.  He battled for the lead and in a seemingly choreographed move both he and the leader spun, Auston recovered and resumed quickly enough to not only maintain his position but to claim the first position.  For the remainder of the race he was unchallenged finishing with a 0.4462 second lead and setting the fastest lap of the race.

The last race of the 2005 season, Round 17, took place later in the afternoon and with Auston on the pole due to his fastest lap in the earlier race.  The race start was exciting with cars going not 4 but 5 wide into the first turn and everyone making it through without contact.  On the third lap Auston was being challenged for the lead when he and the challenger went though a series of S turns side by side.  Unfortunately there was not enough room for both cars to between the burms and Auston banged his right rear tire off the burm defending his position.  In the next half lap the right rear suspension failed and Auston was forced to watch the remainder of the race from behind a tire wall.

Overall it was an excellent weekend with Auston garnering his first win in a formula car and collecting his third place trophy for the 2005 Formula TR 1600 Pro Series Championship.
