Oct 31, 2005 - Oakland, CA.  Auston Harris ran in his second weekend of sedan car racing over the weekend, Oct 29-30, in the NASA SpecE30 class at Thunderhill Raceway Park.  Auston previously ran the same car, a 1989 BMW E30 325is prepared to the SpecE30 rules, on a weekend where he was also competing in the Formula TR pro series where he is in third position for the 2005 series championship.  Auston is 14 years old.

Saturday saw Auston qualifying 15^th overall and first in class with a time of 2:13.4 over the challenging three mile natural terrain Thunderhill circuit.  In the afternoon race Auston improved his best lap to 2:11.0 without improving his overall position, finishing 15^th.

Overnight, after debriefing,  the crew used the input received from Auston to make a few subtle adjustments to the setup.  The results were immediate; in the Sunday morning qualifying session Auston set his quickest lap time of 2:09.9 and was the fifth fastest in the session.  The second session of the day was a qualifying race where Auston set his fastest time of the weekend at 2:08.5 and qualified 10^th for the feature race.  In the feature race Auston improved his position overall to 8^th and first in class while showing consistency with a fast lap of 2:09.0.

Auston clinched the NASA Northern California Regional  SpecE30 SO Championship for 2005 with his performance this weekend.

Austons next outing is November 12, 2005 at Buttonwillow Raceway for the final two rounds of the Formula TR 2005 Series Championship.  Auston has a solid third place in the series championship and is looking to end the season with a first place finish in these two races.
