Hayward, CA - June 27, 2005.  The Formula TR event had a unique format due to the lack of testing opportunities for many participants.  Saturday saw the competitors practicing four 15 min. sessions followed by the single 15 min. qualifying session of the weekend.  Sunday began with the Round 9 race at 8am followed by the Round 10 race at 1:15pm. 

Qualifying placed Auston fourth on the grid. This qualifying position was for both races to be held on Sunday.

   

Round 9 began with the 1600’s in perfect formation for the start with everyone getting off well. Auston had an excellent start announcing his presence by placing his nose on the gearbox of the car in front of him and propelling them both from second and fourth to first and second which is where they both finished. 

 

Round 10 was conducted less than five hours after Round 9.  Again the starts were excellent.  Auston again pushed his way to second place on the start but was not able to sustain it for the entire race, finishing third.

Auston visited the podium for the first time in his professional auto racing career, after only 8 races. Auston ended the weekend with two podium appearances. Auston is in fourth in the 1600 Championship series.

Rounds 11 and 12 will be conducted back at Portland International Raceway on August 27-28.
